Mentoring Via icouldbe.org (01.19.11)

Well, right now I have 4 mentees with www.icouldbe.org. 2 are active (I just got 1 of them today!) and 2 are not. The two who are active are doing a great job so far. And I even gave the one I've done the most work with a gold star last night for kicking butt and getting the work done in a timely manner. They appreciated it - but really it's all them and well deserved. For each assignment the mentee does, I give feedback and sometimes have an assignment of my own to do. I'm done with school, but still get homework. But I'm not complaining! The 2 that aren't active, I'm trying to find out why. I'm not one to give up, but I may have to. :(

About www.icoudlbe.org - it's a mentoring program for high school students who would like to go to college. And we go through a series of "assignments" to figure it all out. I am really enjoying this program! I've always wanted to mentor, but most of the time it's during school hours and at some point I need to work. This is done 100% online and is very confidential - I don't know the names, ages, locations or even gender of my mentees, though some screen names give you an idea about their gender. And they don't know any of that information about me, though I do have a pic from graduation in my profile so they can see I'm a female. I'm glad that mentoring and working with high school students is as rewarding we I'd hoped.
